Then we went to see the River Jordan which is really just a small stream in most parts. There is a place set aside for baptisms along the side of the river (of course, also near a gift shop).

At the end of the day, we had a tour of the Kibbutz. It was built in 1916 while the first Kibbutz was built in 1908. The community has been an experiment in communal living since its inception. They only started paying individual wages and allowing individual bank accounts in the past few years. It is still in transition. They take very good care of their members and even have a nursing home on the premises.
