At the Israeli Museum, we visited the Shrine of the Book, for the Dead Sea Scrolls, where the white dome represents the light and the black wall, the darkness. While only replicas of the scrolls exist today in the shrine, the history and the translations, along with other artifacts from Qumran are exhibited. Until the finding of the Dead Sea Scrolls, the current Jews had been using the Old Testament writings from the 11th century. The analysis of the Old Testament from this time to the Dead Sea Scrolls, proved the accuracy of the Old Testament verses back to the time of Jesus. Scrolls are still being translated even today. While an archaeologist purchased the first Dead Sea scrolls at a pawn shop for $1, the Israeli government purchased 4 more scrolls for 1 million dollars as the result of a Wall Street Journal advertisement, just 4 years later.
