We had lunch at, guess what, an Italian restaurant. After lunch, we visited the Church and Basilica of Saint Catherine. She was made a saint because she convinced the Pope in France to move the Vatican back to Rome. She was made a saint when she died and accepted as the Patron Saint of Sienna. They have her head and one finger on display in the church. The belief is that the bones have a power to combat bad things and are a direct communication with God. We also learned this visiting the Duomo museum, as there are several bones of saints on display in glass cases along with the right arm of John the Baptist. It was like visiting the catacombs in Palermo all over again and seeing the skeletons.
Back to the hotel to wash up and then off to dinner and a Mozart concert tonight at a church in town. However, the trip back was not as easy as yesterday. We took a different bus back and asked the driver if it stopped in front of our hotel. He said it did. We drove by it twice and were told that we would still be dropped off by the hotel. He dropped us off on top of a hill that was all residential with no hotels and pointed to walk straight ahead. We started walking and then asked a woman if it was the correct direction to the hotel. She pointed us the other way. We then walked that way until we found 2 construction workers that also told us we were walking the correct way. Finally made it back and had a wonderful meal on the way to the church. The concert was great and we called for a taxi to take us back to the hotel as it was late.
