Happy 4th of July! Today we slept in and dad went down to the local bakery and bought us chocolate croissants for a late breakfast. We talked to Diana to see what she recommended to do on Lipari for the day. She said to rent scooters, but dad didn’t want to- oh well, might have been fun. Instead we walked down to the dock to get our ticket for the boat to Naples for tomorrow and then we walked up to the archaeological museum at the top of the hill. It was huge! They had to have had at least 6 different buildings dedicated to artifacts that they have found around Lipari and the other Aeolian Islands along with 2 churches. It was really neat. We walked back down and got lunch to go- mom and Jeanine got a chicken and a cold vegetable concoction, and dad got a hot dog. We went back to the hotel and ate on the terrace at the top of the building. It was very nice. After our late lunch mom took a nap while dad and Jeanine went to the post office to mail a box home- it was a good thing we went late afternoon because only 2 other people were there and it still took a good half hour! When we got back we put our swim suits on and we read out in the sun on the terrace for a few hours (too bad she didn’t have a pool). We showered and then went out for hamburgers (we celebrated 4th of July by eating American food) and then we went back to the room and watched a movie. Later that night we were really amused to hear random yelling from the street when Italy won the football match against Germany! We leave at 7:30am tomorrow morning for Naples and then to Sorrento.
