We then went to Chefchaouen, a small mountain town situated near two small villages that are physically in Morocco but are actually still a part of Spain. We stayed at the Hotel Barcelona. Due to the Spanish contact, many people still speak Spanish along with Arabic/Moroccan. We walked around the small town, noticing that the Casbah closed early. Oh well, we can see it in the morning. We had drinks at an outdoor café and every cat in town came to say hello to Cindy. Getting a drink was a real challenge. The restaurant told Abdou that we could have an alcoholic drink. In actuality, they had no license and brought in beer and wine from a neighboring store. We were told to keep the drinks out of sight in case the police came by. They were delivered wrapped in paper. We lost track of time and finished dinner at another restaurant after 11 pm and closed it down.
