Then we were off to El Jadida, 90 kilometers from Casablanca and the home of Abdou’s family. We had dinner with his Mom and family. We were first served Moroccan Whiskey (tea) and cinmins, which are a folded flatbread cooked on a griddle with oil. Later the dinner was served which included salad and incredible fishballs made of sardines (but different than the sardines we know of) and vegetables. They were great. We had our first lesson in Moroccan eating learning that you are to take the food with bread (homemade by Abdou’s Mom) and your fingers. What fun as we ate and talked into the night.
