On the road again with a short stop at Meknes, the third Imperial City. We strolled past the original elaborate main gate, Bab El-Mansour, erected by Moulay Ismail’s son, Moulay Abdallah in 1732. Then we walked to the medina through the now current side gate to the mausoleum of Moulay Ismail the Sultan who made Meknes his capital in the 17th century. As non-Muslims we were able to go into the mosque but not the tomb.
