We decided to drive through Agios Nickolas, another major city on Crete, continuing on to the monastery Panagia Kera, just southwest of the city. Directions were good, but as we walked up, we saw the door was closed and there was scaffolding around part of the church. A woman walked by with a child and we inquired of the church. She informed us that the floor was being redone, and it would not be open for maybe one or two days. Good timing again. Well we were there, and we have a book with pictures of the very well preserved wall paintings. We are not allowed to take pictures of any of the church wall paintings anyway.
