Then we drove from the mountains to the lowest elevation in the world, the Dead Sea at 400 meters below sea level. There we had lunch and a “float” in the water which is 10 times saltier than an ocean. Unfortunately it was more like work to get out and then being washed ashore as the waves were fairly strong today, so not as relaxing as advertised, but still great fun. Since the Dead Sea is known for its health products, the day would not be complete without a trip to the Ahava factory. We only purchased body lotion as that is all we needed to replenish with our travels. Then our travels took us past Qumeran, the home of the Dead Sea Scrolls and Jericho(first city conquered by Israelites when came to promised land) which has ruins of a settlement 10,000 years ago. We arrived in Jerusalem as the sun was setting. The bible became alive today!
