We then toured Vina del Mar and had a wonderful lunch of Chilean Sea Bass. This town was started later than Valparaiso and is where most of the workers live. It has beaches and every year they have a large music festival during February. The town is gearing up for the festival to start. We also toured the Veragas museum. He was a wealthy mine owner in the late 1800’s and donated his mansion to the town when he died. This is now a fine arts museum and the grounds also contain the music stadium for the festival. We also saw three parachute jumpers who launched from the surrounding mountains and were sailing over the town. We also toured a museum that houses an authentic Easter Island stone sculpture of one of their gods. It was blown down in a storm and then removed to mainland Chile. We never knew that Easter Island was a part of Chile.
